The starter motor in my car had been acting up and finally gave up the ghost. Golden Gear put in a new starter motor with a two-year warranty, and even cleaned the inside of my car. When I picked up my car, I noticed is running noticeably better than in the weeks and months leading up to the failure of the starter. When I need work done on my car in the future, I'll bring it to Golden Gear.

I am very happy with service I received at Golden Gear. Alex went out of his way to make the drop-off and pick-up work around my schedule and kept me well informed every step of the way. I will definitely go back to Golden Gear.

Great service. Tell you what’s really going on with car. Goes over each cost and tells you whether it should be done now or can wait until later without impacting the car. Had a leak in the water pump of my Audi. The dealership in Marin said they couldn’t fix my car until the end of July. It was covered by my extended warranty. Alex helped me get across that this was an emergency situation. Audi finally agreed and had the car towed to Marin. I am really grateful to Alex for all the help he gave me.

My check-engine light turned on just after I moved to Sonoma where I didn't know anyone, was extremely short on cash, and could absolutely not afford to break down. I called Golden Gear based on its excellent yelp rating and told the receptionist that I just needed to vet the vehicle and make sure that it wouldn't fail on me until I could bring it in for a real service. She assured me that the mechanic would be conservative and fair in his work and not charge me for anything without confirming it with me first. I had a good feeling about the place so I made an appointment for the next day. When I arrived at the shop, I met the mechanic Alex and we discussed the vehicle's issue and the terms of the work to be done. Then he worked on the car while I waited at a nearby eatery. Very shortly afterward he called me to say that the work was finished. He explained that a minor part was failing and was causing the check-engine light to turn on, but that the problem wasn't critical and that it wouldn't cause the car to break down in the near future. He also mentioned that he'd seen the same problem on another vehicle of the same model. The final price was indeed very fair and I obtained much-needed peace of mind. It's been a week since then and I've been driving heavily without experiencing any problems. Soon I'll bring the car back to have it serviced properly. I've definitely found my go-to mechanic. A perfect experience, recommended.
